International Women’s Day 2021
Today, March 8th is International Women’s Day.
After a year that has had a devastating impact on women in the workforce – especially women of color – it is more important than ever that we recognize that women are most resilient through change when supported by a community. Found in Translation’s model was built on this idea, and on this International Women’s Day, we honor the strength and compassion of our alumnae, who continue to support each other and their communities during this ongoing crisis through volunteering, job referrals, and language access.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, 41% of surveyed alumnae reported supporting their community through volunteer interpreting, coordinating donations, making masks, providing childcare/transportation assistance for essential workers, referrals for open job positions and more.
During times of struggle, sacrifice and setbacks, we must continue to show up for the women in our lives and in our community, just as they have shown up for each other.
Thank you for supporting Found in Translation, and happy International Women’s Day!
Found in Translation is not just a program that helps women who are aspiring to advance in this profession. It is a community that genuinely desires to offer the support, resources and guidance to women in the program and even beyond. This support does not end when the program ends. Found in Translation continues to reach out to their alumnae and it makes a world of a difference to see such compassion and willingness to support these women. It continues to inspire me to not just stay connected and give back when I can but to continue to pay it forward to other women around me so they can succeed as well.
I want to mention how I greatly appreciated the messages from [Found in Translation staff] checking in during the pandemic. It meant a lot to me as I was going through a lot and to know that Found in Translation really cared and was willing to help connect me to resources. It really meant a lot and made a big difference in my life at that time.
This program has helped me become more successful professionally, and career wise. I couldn’t have gotten to where I am today without Found in Translation and I hope to give back when I can.
