Roles and Responsibilities

Working in close collaboration with fellow board members and the Executive Director, board members help the organization achieve its goals through governance, financial oversight, fundraising efforts, and representing and promoting the organization in the community.

Meetings and Time Commitment

The board meets quarterly for 3 hours virtually. Board members are asked to attend at least 75% of meetings as well as contribute and additional 2-5 hours per month

Fundraising Expectations

We aim for 100% board giving, with each board member donating annually at a level that is meaningful to them. In addition to making a personal financial contribution annually, board members are expected to support Found in Translation’s fundraising—e.g. by making an introduction to a prospective donor, foundation, or corporate sponsor; participating in planning or promoting a fundraising event; raising money from one’s social networks etc.

Qualifications and Experience

We seek candidates with diverse knowledge, skill sets, professional backgrounds, and lived experiences, who will have genuine resonance with and commitment to our mission, a deep commitment to gender and racial equity and language justice, and one or more of the following areas of expertise: Financial management/oversight; Philanthropy; Fundraising/development; Communications or public relations; Legal compliance; Strategic planning; Language justice, advocacy and policy.
