This event is FREE to interpreters and attendees!

Calling all interpreters! Once again Found in Translation has joined forces with ForHealth Consulting at UMASS Chan Medical School and CCCS Embracing Culture, to organize the Fifth Annual Virtual Interpreter Job Fair.

This is a unique opportunity for interpreters to meet Language Service Providers during a single event within the comfort of their own homes.

Interpreters can connect with prospective employers and explore possibilities for career growth such as attaining National Certification. This event is for both interpreters who are new to the field as well as experienced interpreters.

Participant Guidelines:

  • Between November 11th-13th, registrants will receive: 
    • A list of participating vendors that includes information such as the languages vendors are seeking, interpreter hiring qualifications and training opportunities.
    • A brief instructional video to be viewed before joining the event that provides critical information and instructions necessary for having the best experience at the event.
  • On November 14th at 5:30pm EST, registrants will receive:
    • An email with the access link to the job fair.

Registrants are strongly encouraged to review the documentation that they receive to increase the likelihood of having a productive experience at this event.

Job Fair Resources

All of the participating vendors for the job fair will be using either Zoom or Google Meet for their booths. There are some video instructions provided below to help you learn how to use these platforms before the job fair if you are unfamiliar with them.

Yes! Most vendors will require you to be a certificate holding interpreter prior to being hired, however some vendors are also offering training programs to earn certificates. Please check the informational packet that will be sent to you between November 11th-13th for more details.

Most of our vendors are only hiring for US-based interpreters. Please check the informational packet the week of the event for specific details on where vendors are hiring from and whether or not they will hire internationally!

Several vendors are hiring national applicants. This year for in-person assignments, most vendors are based in New England. Please check the informational packet the week of the event for specific details on where vendors are hiring from!

You will receive an instructional video before the job fair on how to access the vendors (November 11th-13th).
You will then get a link to the job fair page the day of the fair (Nov 14th) at 5:30pm EST.
We strongly recommend attending the fair on a computer/desktop, and not a mobile device.

If you are using Zoom for the first time you may be prompted to download the program. You can alternatively join from a browser but may have limited functionalities. All vendors will be using either Zoom or Google Meet.
It can be helpful to become familiar with Zoom or Google Meet prior to attending. Check out the resources above for helpful tutorials!

We recommend coming with a PDF of your resume and any certificates you already possess.
It is also suggested that you research the vendors you want to meet to understand how they usually operate and what they’re looking for in hirees.
Be prepared to take notes either by hand or on your devices.

We strongly recommend you do so! It will likely garner you more attention from vendors, and gives you a chance to make a good first impression and demonstrate how you'd arrive to assignments if you get hired. Dress professionally, and be in a quiet space with a neutral background if possible.

Pro tip: Many attendees start at the first vendor link and go in descending order. Start from the bottom up (or even randomly)! You may be in a smaller crowd, and therefore more likely to get individualized attention from the vendor. If a room is too crowded, you are free to exit and return later.

Some vendors may ask questions to attendees, and participating will help you stand out! You're encouraged to ask questions of the vendors - learning the 'Raise Your Hand' reaction on Zoom and Google Meet can be very helpful in this regard. You can also answer or ask questions in the chat.
