Recognizing White terror in the recent Georgia shooting
A White man went on a killing spree on Tuesday: an event as harrowing as it is familiar. He targeted three spas, murdering eight people, six of them Asian women. To say that hate has no home here or that this isn’t what America is about would be gaslighting the millions of People of Color who know otherwise from their daily lived experience. We recognize the racism, xenophobia, and misogyny at the heart of this mass murder, and we will call White terror what it is.
We stand in grief and solidarity with our Asian family, friends, and neighbors.
